ANY TYPE OF FUNCTION
Our Sydney string quartet elevates any event, enriching the atmosphere as guests arrive.
The refined touch of a string quartet leaves a lasting impact, making each occasion unforgettable.
Discover the diverse array of functions we’ve graced, highlighting the distinct allure of our musical abilities.
DIVERSE MUSIC REPERTOIRE
We excel in performing a diverse range of music genres, covering not only the most iconic classical tunes by composers such as Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Haydn, Handel,
Schubert, and Beethoven, but also contemporary music spanning from the 1950s to today’s radio hits.
Our versatile repertoire allows us to adapt to the event’s atmosphere, whether it requires slow romantic tunes, emotive and reflective pieces, or lively music to get guests dancing.
With a library of over 3,000 songs, we also offer jazz charts, tangos, traditional folk music from various cultures, hymns, Christmas carols, and film scores.
SPECIAL SONG REQUESTS
Should your preferred song not be found within our extensive 3000+ library of tunes, we’re delighted to arrange it for you at no extra expense.
In fact, we will accommodate up to three special requests free of charge, ensuring your treasured songs are performed live exclusively for you during your wedding ceremony, your loved-one’s funeral or other significant event.
For any additional song arrangements, we charge a fee of $200 + GST per song.
CUSTOMISE YOUR BAND
At String Musicians Australia, our principal ensemble is the string quartet, though we also provide various configurations to accommodate our clients’ budgets, such as string trios, string duos, and solo performances.
A string quartet, composed of two violinists, a violist, and a cellist, delivers the most vibrant harmonies and fullest sound, making it our top suggestion.
A string trio consists of two violinists and a cellist, while a string duo includes a violinist and cellist.
Solo performances can be by a violinist, violist, or cellist, based on the client’s preference. Kindly note that solo performers can only play the melody line,
without harmony.
For clients with no budget constraints, we have performed as large orchestras consisting of up to forty musicians.
Ultimately, we can fulfill any request, customising our ensemble to match your preferences and budget.
RECORDING SESSIONS, FEATURE FILMS AND COMPOSITIONS
Our musicians not only showcase their skills at live events but also contribute their expertise to recording sessions for commercial TV, feature films, and student compositions.
Their proficiency, adaptability and patience make them the perfect choice for any recording session.
Listen to over 200 sample recordings.
LOW-LIGHT SETTINGS
Since we read our music on our iPads, we can perform in dark and low-light settings.
WE DON’T REQUIRE POWER
We perform on acoustic instruments, which means we don’t require access to any power.
This makes our set up time efficient and keeps our performance area simple and safe.
WE PERFORM ACOUSTICALLY
For intimate gatherings with fewer than 80 attendees, limited space, or occasions where guests will engage in quiet conversations, we recommend having us perform acoustically. This is well-suited for wedding ceremonies, small receptions, funerals, and wakes.
If you prefer an acoustic performance for a larger event, we suggest booking our string quartet solely for the initial 60-90 minutes of your occasion.
During this period, our string quartet will create the most significant impact, and your guests will be most likely to appreciate their performance.
Typically, after this timeframe, guests become more at ease with socialising, their conversations grow louder, and the string quartet becomes less prominent.
We advise playing music over speakers once the quartet concludes their performance.
WE CAN BE AMPLIFIED
For wedding receptions, celebrations and corporate events hosting more than 80 attendees, expansive outdoor venues, or crowded spaces, we suggest amplification to achieve the best sound quality.
If your venue provides sound equipment to amplify the string quartet, please arrange for the sound engineer to place one microphone on a stand in front each musician.
To guarantee optimal audio, consider scheduling us for an extra 30 minutes prior to our performance time for a soundcheck.
WE PERFORM OUTDOORS
We are happy to perform outdoors; however, our highly valuable instruments require protection from direct sunlight, rain, and wind.
Suitable outdoor settings include verandas, balconies, and decks with overhead cover, marquees, large shade umbrellas, or spacious trees providing ample shade without falling foliage risks.
Performing on or near sand is not feasible due to potential instrument damage.
In the event of inclement weather, please ensure an indoor backup performance area is available.
