A STRING QUARTET IS BEST FOR YOUR WEDDING
For the ultimate musical experience on your wedding day, we recommend hiring a string quartet. With two violins, a viola, and a cello, a string quartet allows for full harmonies and greater volume, resulting in an unforgettable performance of unlimited repertoire.
However, we also offer options for those with tighter budgets, including string trio, string duo, and solo performances. A string trio comprises two violins and a cello, while a string duo consists of a violin and a cello. Solo options include a violinist, cellist or pianist. Please note that if you choose to hire a pianist, the venue must provide a tuned piano.
If modern pop songs are on your playlist, we recommend hiring a string quartet to ensure the songs are recognisable. If classical music is your preference, a string trio will suffice. A string duo is suitable for limited classical music only, and a solo violinist or cellist will only be able to perform melody lines.
Hire our string quartet, as it’s perfect for both indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies, providing ample acoustic volume.
HOW WILL WE PERFORM AT YOUR WEDDING CEREMONY?
We will perform during these times:
- As guests arrive (15 minutes before your ceremony commences)
- Processional: Bridal party entrance (1 or 2 songs)
- Signing of the Register (1 or 2 songs)
- Recessional: Bridal party exit (1 song)
- As guests exit and during photos, canapes and drinks (depending on booking duration)
To ensure a seamless performance, we recommend hiring our string quartet at least 15 minutes before the ceremony’s scheduled start time. We will arrive 15-20 minutes earlier to set up and begin performing at the start of your booking time. During the pre-ceremony, we will play a mix of lively classical and modern pop songs to set the ambiance and keep guests entertained as they arrive and mingle.
As the bride prepares to walk down the aisle, we will fade out the pre-ceremony music and start performing the processional song at the celebrant’s cue for all guests to stand. Most couples prefer one song for the entire processional, providing the most seamless entry.
The processional song will be looped as needed and faded out once the bride is in position, removing any need for the bride to hurry in case the processional takes longer than anticipated.
We can also perform a separate entry song for the flower girls and bridesmaids, with a brief pause before the bride’s processional song.
During the signing of the register, which usually takes 5-10 minutes, we will perform two songs of your choice.
We will then perform the recessional song as the couple is announced as wedded.
We can continue performing during the post-ceremony, photo sessions, and canapes, depending on the length of your booking.
We recommend booking our string quartet for 60-90 minutes, and if there’s a chance of a delay or extension, please extend your booking by 15 minutes to avoid any inconvenience.
If you’d like us to perform soft background music during speeches, vows, and celebrant’s speech, just let us know. We don’t charge extra for playing during other times of your ceremony.
For a Catholic Mass, we suggest booking us for at least 90 minutes before the scheduled start time, allowing extra time for delayed start and longer speeches. Our string quartet can perform at other times during the mass, such as Communion.
HOW MANY SONGS CAN WE CHOOSE?
Please select four songs that will highlight your special day.
This includes:
- One or two songs for your processional
- One or two songs for the signing of the register
- One song for your recessional.
To help you select your four featured songs, we have created a playlist of the most requested songs at wedding ceremonies.
If you’re busy with other tasks, you can simply click on the top song in the playlist, and the tracks will play one after another.
When you hear a song you like, just take note of the track number and let us know which songs you’d love us to perform live at your wedding.
You can also listen to all of our 200+ recording samples here.
Note that there are several playlists on each webpage, so once the tracks finish playing, you’ll need to click on the first track of the next playlist.
Before and after the ceremony, we will perform a selection of upbeat classical music and contemporary songs. If you have a preference of style of music you’d like us to perform while guests arrive and exit, please let us know.
